Veolia with a profit jump of 44 percent for the year 2009

VeoliaThe largest mining company and the bottling of water in the world - France's Veolia Environnement, has achieved profit growth from 44 percent in 2009 due to severely reduced financing costs last year. So the company, which has strong positions in the processing of waste and recycling, has managed to neutralize the negative effects of declining demand for such kind of services, says Business Week. Veolia profit of EUR 584.1 million. Revenues have even dropped by 3,4 percent to 34.55 billion euros. In 2009 Veolia has received a strong blow of declining business activity, which forced many companies, including manufacturers and processors of steel to stop work for a long time. This was reflected very negatively on revenue from activities related to waste treatment.
Since the beginning of year market capitalization of Veolia has risen by 8.1 per cent. But today the company's shares lost nearly 2.8 percent at 24.30 euros per piece.
