AOL with incomes decreased and loss in the Q3 2011


AOLThe American media company AOL announced poor financial results for the third quarter, according to which the loss amounts to 2.6 million USD (1.7 million EUR), or 0.02 USD per share. A year ago, Internet Company announced a profit of 171.6 million USD, and in the previous quarter loss amounted to 11.8 million USD. Passages from sales between July and September have dropped by 6% to 531.7 million USD (386.7 million EUR). Despite losing AOL exceeded expectations of analysts, who expected a loss of 0.06 USD per share on revenue of 524 million USD. The revenues from sales of advertising in the third quarter were up 8% to 317.7 million USD. In the company's subscription business, however, again had to settle with losses - revenue here were EUR 191.9 million USD, down 22% over the same period a year earlier.
"The trend of results shows that our strategy of becoming a media and technology company with a great offering for consumers and closer ties with global brands and advertising agencies has worked", says the CEO Tim Armstrong. The data show a reversal because the company has managed to halt declines in revenue. Decrease of 6% in the third quarter was the lowest in five years. In addition, advertising revenue growth recorded the previous quarter for the second time.
In addition, AOL continues to invest in its news portal Patch. He has already surpassed the limit of 10 million visitors per month and has over 10,000 bloggers. AOL sites have attracted in the third quarter of 107 million visitors per month - 1% more than a year ago results.
